Verdi, Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco: The Greatest 19th Century Italian Composer of Opera, Rare Signed German Cabinet Card Dated 1880 (1813-1901) Famous Italian Romantic composer, who became one of the most prominent opera composers in history by the time he was in his 30s. La Traviata, Rigoletto, Aida, Otello, Il Trovatore and Don Carlos do not even account for a third of his masterpieces. Verdi has signed Bruckmann's Portrait Collection cabinet card "To Josephine, G. Verdi, Genova (Genoa) 1880" along bottom white border below image. Card measures 7 x 4½", in excellent condition as is the signature, executed in black fountain pen ink. Framed (gilt flaking) and matted to 14 x 11½". Estimated Value $1,800 - UP
