Lot 888

1900-O, O over CC. VAM-11 Overmintmark, Top 100. PCGS graded MS-64. CAC. PQ. Fully white and well struck. Apparently a leftover CC reverse die was found in the vaults in Philadelphia, this old die was somewhat effaced to remove most of the CC Mintmark and an O Mintmark was punched in the proper place, but traces of the CC remain--and soon collectors discovered this unique feature! Bear in mind that the last coins struck in Carson City were in 1893, so this die was likely at least seven years old by 1900. Intriguing! Pop 39; 14 finer at PCGS for the variety. (PCGS # 133963) Estimated Value $675 - 700

Realized $900
