1898. PCGS graded Proof 67+ Deep Cameo. CAC. PQ. A flashy deep cameo gem proof. There is no deep or detracting toning here, just a whisper of rose-gold over both sides. The strike is full, perfect and complete. The depth of frost is amazing, which causes the dramatic deep cameo effect against the highly reflective fields. Only the first handful of Proof coins struck with highly polished new dies show this degree of contrast, and these are not only the most dramatic but usually the most sought after. Their surfaces like all proofs are prone to any signs of mishandling, and this one obviously is pristine with near perfect preservation eye appeal and quality.
