Lot 734

1844. PCGS graded MS-63. Boldly struck and wonderfully well preserved. All business strikes of this date were struck with a doubled obverse die, with four stripes on the shield and a doubled boarder on the shield. A hint of light tone on this low mintage date, and a coin which is seldom found this attractive and in such a lofty grade. Nice prooflike surfaces on both sides. Only 20,000 struck. Pop 9; 4 finer, 3 in 64, 1 in 65. (PCGS # 6930) Estimated Value $7,000 - UP
