Lot 604

1916. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Head. Lovely gold toning on both sides. Popular key date with a modest mintage of 52,000 pieces, most of which entered circulation unnoticed and without any fanfare. Most people and collectors thought these were first issued in 1917 when the initial batches were given out to banks, but inside some of the bags were these soon to be rare and sought after 1916 Standing Liberty Quarters. This one offers a bold strike with a full head on Liberty and all the bosses or rivets in the shield, and glorious mint luster throughout. The toning is deeper russet with touches of blue and green around the rims, particularly on the reverse. An elegant example of this sought after key date! (PCGS # 5705) Estimated Value $20,000 - 22,000
