Lot 386

1797 S-140 R1 PCGS graded XF45. Light to medium chocolate brown blending to olive brown in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and there are no notable marks or other defects, but the gloss is a bit subdued thanks to a thin layer of natural oxidation. There are traces of microscopic dirt in protected areas and it looks like this cent has never been brushed or given "TLC" of any kind. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state III. There is a long die crack near the dentils left of the date and curls and a fine die crack through AME. A very nice cent; just needs a proper bath. Our grade is VF35. PCGS #1422. Estimated Value $2,000 - UP
From the Bob Willoughby Collection.

Realized $2,640
