Lot 311

1839 N-4 R1 Silly Head PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous light olive brown with peeps of faded mint red in a few of the protected areas on each side. Lighter reddish steel toning shows on the chin and nostril, and there is a stain of dark reddish olive brown on the bottom loop of the wreath ribbon. The portrait is very well struck and there is no hint of friction on the highpoints. The only contact mark is a dull nick on the right end of the eyebrow. LDS with worn dentils and flowlines on both sides. The dashes found on each side of the bottom of the 9 seen in the earlier state are gone and a clashmark from the ear shows over the N in CENT. Our grade is MS60. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #37231. Pop 2; 7 graded higher at PCGS, 5 in MSBN, 2 in MSRB. Estimated Value $700 - UP
