1794 S-18b R4 Head of 1793, Edge of 1794 PCGS graded F12. Glossy light to medium brown with hints of reddish brown toning in some protected areas on the obverse. The highpoints of the devices are toned a darker shade of steel. The surfaces are smooth but there is a planchet flake hidden in the hair below the cap. A dull rim nick over the L and a dull diagonal scratch or nick right of T in CENT are the only notable signs of contact. The bottom of the date is a bit weak but everything else is clear. E-MDS, Breen state III, without any hint of a bulge in the field below the cap. Graded F12 net VG8 in the Noyes census, his photo #63128. Our grade is VG10. A decent lower-grade example of the 1794 Head of 1793 type. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 6 finer: 1 in 25, 1 in 40, 1 in 58+, 2 in 63, 1 in 64. PCGS #35513.
