Lot 1425

1852-O. PCGS graded AU-58. CAC. PQ. Well struck and lightly toned. The surfaces are absolutely gorgeous here, with classic satin smooth fields and devices, showing only a few trivial signs of handling. The strike is bold too, with nearly full separation on all of Liberty's curls and the eagle's feathers. With a mintage of 190,000 pieces this is one of the more available New Orleans double eagles from the 1850s, so its worth waiting for just the right coin for your collection. This one certainly will please any specialist who has demanding tastes for high eye appeal. Reflective surfaces on both sides. Pop 46; 22 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 8907) Estimated Value $12,500 - UP
