1802, 2 over 1. BD-1, Rarity 4+. NGC graded AU-58+. This is the "Centered Overdate" as defined by John Dannreuther who wrote the book on this series of early gold die varieties. The surfaces have a few shallow nicks and marks, but he luster is mostly intact and the strike is solid and sharp. There is only a bit of wear on the high points of the design, and a well preserved and attractive coin that will satisfy any specialist seeking an example. Untoned and well struck with reflective fields. Lots of mint luster evident. Only 53,176 struck (PCGS # 8083) Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000
