1802, 2 over 1. BD-1, Rarity 4+. NGC graded AU-58+. This is the "Centered Overdate" as defined by John Dannreuther who wrote the book on this series of early gold die varieties. The surfaces have a few shallow nicks and marks, but he luster is mostly intact and the strike is solid and sharp. There is only a bit of wear on the high points of the design, and a well preserved and attractive coin that will satisfy any specialist seeking an example.
