Ptolemaic Kingdom. Ptolemy I Soter. Silver Tetradrachm, as King, 305-282 BC. Alexandria, ca. 305-300 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, wearing elephant's skin headdress. Reverse: AΛEΞANΔPO[Y], Athena advancing right, brandishing spear held and holding forth shield; in right field, HP monogram, helmet and eagle standing right on thunderbolt. CPE 65; Svoronos 170; SNG Copenhagen 27. Counterstamp on the cheek of Alexander. Lightly toned and excellent metal. Choice Very Fine. Estimated Value $600 - UP
