Lot 667

1850-D. PCGS graded MS-62+. This is a truly scarce date and one that is rarely offered in mint state. This one is quite close to the choice grade. As nearly always seen, the hair curls behind Liberty's eye and above her ear are a trifle soft. The dentils are soft as well, nearly always seen on this prized issue. The Dahlonega Mint was working with aged and worn equipment, hence the dies produced coins of generally more average quality as seen here. The color is a lovely shade of orange gold with ample luster in the fields. Here is a fantastic condition rarity that will be a major highlight of any advanced collection. A nice frosty coin with lovely golden toning. Only 8,382 struck. Pop 1; 3 finer in 63. (PCGS # 7511) Estimated Value $12,000 - 13,000
