Lot 950

1855 N-11 R6- Italic 55 PCGS Proof, Unc Detail Spot Removed. A very sharp cent but the obverse was lightly cleaned long ago, possibly to remove a couple spots, and it has retoned light olive with hints of reddish steel in protected areas. The reverse is a more natural olive and bluish steel with medium brown toning on the devices. The reverse fields are nicely reflective while the fields on the obverse are only slightly reflective thanks to the old cleaning. The best identifying mark is a tiny planchet flake on the rim above the second T in STATES. Our grade is Proof-55. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Only 2 Proofs of the variety graded at PCGS. Value $3,000 - UP
