Lot 932

1854 N-25 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to medium steel brown on the devices with bright original mint color remaining visible on 25% of the obverse and 50% of the reverse. Close to gem status except for a couple small carbon spots at the 1 in the date and a more-obvious carbon spot under the end of the wreath stem. MDS, die state b, with flowlines and clashmarks on both sides. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#8 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 1 finer in 66. Value $400 - UP
