Lot 892

1852 N-12 R1 Repunched 18 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous light olive and light steel brown. The eye appeal is excellent and the only marks are a thin scratch on the rim over the second S in STATES and a spot of darker toning at the left foot of the N in ONE. This cent has choice mint state eye appeal but there is a touch of rub on the hair at the top of the ear. Nicely struck E-MDS, die state a. The fields are starting to show fine radial die flowlines but the repunching on the 18 is visible and the obverse is uncracked. Our grade is AU58+, very close to mint state. Previously housed in a PCGS holder graded MS63RB (PCGS label #01899.63/2163746). The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 5; 8 finer: 2 in 65, 5 in 66, 1 in 67. Value $300 - UP
