Lot 880

1851 N-45 R4 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous light chocolate and steel brown with traces of mint red showing on both sides. Just a few minor spots from choice including a tiny one at the hair under star 8, another connecting the feet of the C & A in AMERICA, and a reddish one on the leaf over the E in ONE. LDS, die state b, with an additional fine die crack from the field right of star 4 through the coronet into the field under star 7. Our grade is MS60. A very nice example of this tough variety, tied for CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 3 finer: 2 in 64, 1 in 66. Value $500 - UP
