Lot 873

1851 N-23 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty sea green and light olive. The surfaces are lustrous and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. Would rate a mint state grade from us but there are two rim nicks under the date and a few nicks very well hidden in the curls over the shoulder. M-LDS, die state b. The fine die lines at TA in STATES are gone. Our grade is AU55. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 2 in 64, 1 in 65+. Value $250 - UP
Ex Dr. Thomas S. Chalkley, Superior 1/28/1990:1088-March Wells-Robert E. Matthews Collection-Matthews Estate (includes the Wells collection envelope and Chalkley lot ticket).

Realized $480
