Lot 826

1849 N-2 R1 MS60. Lustrous medium steel brown and chocolate with traces of mellowed mint red on both sides. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and it would be choice if not for two obvious planchet flakes in the dentils at stars 1 & 2. Otherwise a small spot of darker toning midway between the chin and star 2 is the only notable mark. E-MDS, die state i, with crumbling on berry 4 but no crumbling inside the top of the E in CENT. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Value $450 - UP
