Lot 821

1848 N-37 R4+ PCGS graded AU53, CAC Approved. Glossy light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. The obverse is delicately woodgrained with lighter tan toning. The surfaces are smooth and the only notable marks are a pair of small nicks between stars 7 & 8 and two more left of star 12. EDS with a couple low spots in the field before the portrait and another at the T in CENT. (This variety nearly always comes with low spots caused by debris on the dies.) Our grade is EF40+, tied for CC#9 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 2 finer: 1 in 58, 1 in 62. Value $300 - UP
