Lot 810

1848 N-16 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous light olive and steel brown with 5-10% of the planchet mellowed showing mint red. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. Flawless except for a dull scratch nestled between the U in UNITED and the adjacent ribbon end. MDS, die state c, with dull die clashmarks on both sides. A very nice cent. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#5 in the Grellman census. Previously housed in a PCGS holder graded MS63RB (PCGS older green label #01884.63/7166183). The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer: 1 in 64+, 1 in 65+. Value $400 - UP
