Lot 809

1848 N-14 R3 AU58. Frosty olive brown with mellowed mint color showing on 20% of the obverse and 50% of the reverse. The red on the obverse looks original but the red on the reverse is suspect. Nonetheless the surfaces are lustrous and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The best identifying mark is a tiny spot of darker toning (not carbon) under the right side of the 4. E-MDS, die state a. The fine diagonal lines through star 5 are clear. Value $400 - UP
