Lot 80

1800 S-212 R3. PCGS graded AU-55. Frosty bluish steel and light olive. Mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The only notable marks are two small spots of lighter tan toning at the curl below and to the left of the earlobe. MDS, Breen state III early, with lumps on the bust and drapery (from die rust) and a spike to the left from the left loop of the wreath ribbon. In addition there is a very shallow low spot on the neck extending into the hair (caused by debris on the die). Graded AU50 net EF45 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #21249. Bland says EF40 and tied for CC#4. Our grade is EF45+, very close to AU50. The attribution and Doug Bird Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 58. (PCGS # 36224) Value $9,000 - UP
