Lot 758

1846 N-3 R2 Repunched Date PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Lustrous light bluish steel and olive with mellowed mint red in protected areas, particularly on the obverse. Essentially a flawless cent except for several low spots on both sides caused by debris on the dies. A speck of fine carbon on the right foot of the Y in LIBERTY can help identify this cent, but you need a glass to see it. EDS, die state a, with fine die lines at the top of star 13 and an uncracked reverse. Repunching is visible on all 4 digits of the date. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 5; 6 finer: 4 in 64, 2 in 65. Value $350 - UP
