1844 N-8 R6+ PCGS Proof, Unc Detail Tooled. Bluish steel brown and light olive with faded mint red in protected areas, especially on the reverse. Would be a choice cent except for an area around star 2 where the field has been rubbed or very lightly abraded (reason uncertain; perhaps to remove a spot). The fields on both sides are quite reflective and the reverse is choice Red & Brown. Comes with an ANACS photo grading certificate as Proof 60/62 Obverse Tooled (certificate number WR7933). Our grade is Proof-55. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Value $6,000 - UP
