1844 N-6 R3+ AU55. A frosty mint state cent but there are some contact marks on the cheek and in the field over star 2. Light olive and bluish steel brown with traces of faded mint red on the obverse and 25% of the reverse showing brighter mint color. EDS, die state a, with sharp die lines at the throat and neck and no die cracks on the reverse. Softly struck on the top of the ear and on the coronet over LI, as always on this variety (and on many of the varieties of 1844). Value $400 - UP
