1800 S-202 R4+. PCGS graded AU-53. Choice glossy medium chocolate brown with a puff of reddish brown toning at the C in CENT. The surfaces are smooth and mint frost covers the protected areas on both sides. A wonderful cent, nearly flawless with outstanding eye appeal. LDS, Breen state VII, with die cracks and strong swelling on both sides. A great example of a spectacular die state. The reverse of this cent is plated in the 1991 Noyes reference to show the late die state. Graded EF40 Choice and CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #21722. Bland says EF40 and CC#3 in his census. Our grade is EF40++, very close to EF45. The attribution and Doug Bird Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 63. (PCGS # 36194) Value $17,500 - UP
