Lot 724

1843 N-2 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Choice frosty medium brown. A beautiful problem-free cent with solid mint state eye appeal, but a strong glass reveals a faint hint of rub on the highest points of the devices. A microscopic diagonal nick on the chin is the best identifying mark. MDS, die state a late, with a clearly defined rim cud break at UN. Our grade is AU58+, very close to mint state. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer in 65. Value $450 - UP
Ex McCawley & Grellman Auctions 8/19/1995:296-Robert E. Matthews Collection-Matthews Estate (lot ticket included).
