Lot 706

1840 N-8 R1 Large Date PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous medium steel brown and olive with faded mint red in protected areas on both sides, particularly on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is excellent. No spots or stains, just a couple microscopic ticks. A tiny horizontal nick on the nose in front of the eye is the best identifying mark. M-LDS, die state c, with thin rim cud breaks at star 9 and below 840. A very nice 1840 cent, close to choice. Our grade is MS60+. The attribution and Matthews Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 6 finer: 3 in 64, 1 in 65, 1 in 65+, 1 in 66. Value $600 - UP
