Lot 696

1835 N-15 R2 Head of 1836 NGC Unc Details Improperly Cleaned. A frosty mint state cent that was lightly cleaned and retoned light olive and bluish steel with a hint of lighter brown and tan on the obverse. The only marks are a shallow planchet flake left of star 2, a couple faint hairlines left of star 4, and a dull nick between the N & T in CENT. LDS. The fields are flowlined, the small lump at the right bottom of the 3 is gone, and there is subtle swelling at ON and CE. In addition there is clear machine doubling on the forehead, lips, and several of the stars (part of the forehead actually shows triple outlines). Our grade is net AU55. The attribution and Rasmussen provenance are noted on the NGC label. Value $300 - UP
