Lot 616

1845 Second Restrike Breen 1-C R6+ PCGS graded Proof-64+ Brown. Reverse of 1840. Bluish steel and olive with hints of rose and violet toning on both sides. Sharp and attractive, but there is a shallow planchet flake on the chin that catches your eye. A wire rim from star 3 to star 5 was lightly smoothed away (most likely done at the mint before releasing the coin to the public). Similar smoothing was done on the rim at stars 8-9, but it is barely visible. Our grade is Proof-62. PCGS population 1; 6 finer: 4 in 65, 1 in 66, 1 in 66+. Value $8,000 - UP
From the Boulder City NV Collection.
