1798 S-159 R3 Style I Hair, Small 8. PCGS graded AU-53. Frosty medium chocolate and olive brown with traces of lighter brown toning in protected areas. No roughness or verdigris but there are some light contact marks on both sides. The notable marks are a diagonal nick over the bust tip, a lighter horizontal nick on the chin, and a very light rim bruise over the R in LIBERTY. M-LDS, Breen state V, with vertical die cracks on the field behind the portrait but no cud breaks. Graded EF45 net EF40 and CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #32692. Bland says EF45 and CC#2. The finer example in both census lists resides in the ANS collection, so this piece is the finest of the variety available to collectors according to Noyes and Bland.
