1851 N-1 R3 Repunched 18. PCGS graded MS-66 Brown. Lustrous bluish steel and olive with faded mint color covering nearly 10% of the obverse and 20% of the reverse. A great cent that has outstanding eye appeal. Nearly flawless except for a planchet lamination on the rim over the second A in AMERICA (as struck) and a faint spot of reddish brown toning between stars 1 & 2. MDS, die state b. The repunching under the 1 is clear but the repunching along the bottom of the 8 is faint, nearly gone. The die lines over N in UNITED are dull but visible. Called MS61 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #30843. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Naftzger Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer. (PCGS # 406653) Value $1,400 - UP
