Lot 559

1817 N-5 R3. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Choice lustrous medium brown and light olive with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Great eye appeal, just a hint of friction on the highest points from mint state. The best identifying marks are a tiny streak of darker toning down from the lower right point of star 8 and a small spot of similar toning over star 11. Nicely struck E-MDS showing radial lines in all the stars and very fine radial die flowlines in the fields. The repunching on the left base of the N in ONE is strong and most of the dentils on the reverse are visible. Called AU55 net AU50 in the Noyes census, his photo #25221. Our grade is AU58. A beautiful cent that comes with an important provenance. The attribution and Widok Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; none finer. (PCGS # 36562) Value $2,000 - UP
