Lot 433

1795 C-6a R2 No Pole, Thin Planchet. PCGS graded AU-50. A sharp half cent with very little wear, but there are numerous tiny planchet chips covering the lower right quadrant of the obverse and the opposing at the upper right of the reverse. These tiny chips are all mint made but they weaken the design elements and are distracting. Otherwise this piece is well struck and nearly flawless; a faint hairline from the left side of the 1 in the date to the dentils left of the date is the only notable mark. Very attractive frosty mix of chocolate and lighter brown with hints of very faded mint color in a few of the protected areas. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0 early, with a faint hint of swelling in the field near the dentils right of the Y in LIBERTY. B. Weight 90.1 grains. Our grade is VF45. The attribution and Widok Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 5 finer: 2 in 55, 1 in 63, 1 in 65, 1 in 66+. (PCGS # 35089) Value $3,000 - UP
Ex Don Valenziano-The Widok Collection.
