Lot 420

1794 C-8 R5. PCGS graded Fine-12. Choice glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth surfaces, just a few trivial contact marks from choice. A tiny nick in the middle of the neck and a faint diagonal hairline scratch in the field before the mouth are the notable marks, and they are barely visible. MDS, Manley state 2.0 early, with a fine die crack from the rim to the top of the second T in STATES. The reverse is struck slightly off center to K-5 leaving some weakness in the legends near the edge from K-4 to K-7 (as often seen on this tough die variety). Everything else is clear and complete. Our grade is VG10+, close to F12. The attribution and Widok Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 5 finer: 2 in 15, 2 in 45, 1 in 62. (PCGS # 35060) Value $3,000 - UP
Ex Richard Coleman-Mike Demling 5/2000-Mark Hayes 5/1/2015-The Widok Collection.
