Lot 398

1857 N-1 R1 Large Date. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. Frosty medium brown and steel with 20% of the planchet showing slightly faded mint red. Sharply struck with only a few trivial marks. The notable ones are a diagonal nick-like planchet flake in the field before the nose and a tiny scratch off the peak of the 1. Neither mark is visible without the aid of a glass and this cent has great eye appeal. EDS, die state a. The die lines over UNI are sharp and the top of a misplaced 1 that is located in the dentils below the left side of the 8 is clear. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; none finer in BN at PCGS. (PCGS # 389634) Value $1,750 - UP
Ex Thomas D. Reynolds 5/31/2007-Nancy & Bryan Collection.

Realized $1,980
