Lot 285

1855 N-12 R1 Upright 55. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. Beautiful lustrous bluish steel and light olive with underlying mellowed mint red covering about 20% of the planchet. Unbroken satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. No spots or stains, only a few microscopic contact marks. The notable marks are a tiny tick on the jawline over the throat and several very faint hairlines on the neck. MDS, die state b. The fine die lines in the field at the inner curl are gone. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; none finer. (PCGS # 406176) Value $750 - UP
