1854 N-22 R4. PCGS graded MS-64 Red. CAC. The obverse is frosty bright original mint red while the reverse is a more mellowed shade of red, and both sides are quite lustrous. A very impressive cent that has outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a few tiny specks of dark steel toning, including one in the dentils at star 2 and another just right of star 9, plus a small collection of microscopic planchet flakes on the jawline near the throat, as struck. M-LDS, die state b early. The die line from the upper right of the 4 is quite faint, nearly gone. Called MS65 and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #30904. Ted Naftzger graded this cent MS68. Our grade is MS65, CC#1 in the Grellman census. Comes with an important provenance. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; only 2 graded RD at PCGS. (PCGS # 308905) Value $3,500 - UP
