Lot 277

1853 N-10 R1 Repunched 18. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown. CAC. Lustrous bright mint red fading to light olive and steel brown with at least half the planchet showing mint color. The only notable marks are a small puff of slightly darker toning near the dentils under star 3 and another left of star 6. MDS, die state b. The early die lines on the reverse are gone but the repunching on the 18 is visible. A very nice example of a relatively common die variety. Our grade is MS64+, tied for CC#5 in the Grellman census.
