Lot 270

1849 N-30 R5. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. CAC. Very attractive lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a few very light diagonal ticks on the cheek and jaw, another in the field close to the hair between stars 7 & 8, and a final one on the upright of the 1 in the date. None of these marks is visible to the unaided eye. Sharply struck LDS, Grellman state b, with crumbling in the top of the N in ONE. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#4 overall in the Grellman census but finest of the late die state. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1, none finer. Only 2 graded MS at PCGS. (PCGS # 405710) Value $3,000 - UP
Ex James R. McGuigan 11/2001-Great Pacific Collection.
