Lot 227

1826 N-4 R2. PCGS graded MS-62 Brown. CAC. Lustrous golden tan and light olive with hints of light bluish steel overtone in the fields and protected areas. There are two parallel ticks high on the neck and a small spot of reddish brown toning right of the T in CENT. Otherwise this cent is essentially void of marks or other defects. Looks choice mint state but there is a hint of rub on the very highest points of the portrait. MDS with fine radial die flowlines in the fields, but the dentils are complete around both sides. There is strike doubling on most of the stars, along the top of the head, on LIBERTY, and on the mouth. Graded MS61 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #39081. Our grade is AU58. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 2 in 63, 1 in 64. (PCGS # 36820) Value $1,250 - UP
