Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 115

Lot 1577

1813. NGC graded MS-62. Well struck, frosty and untoned. There are no distracting handling marks on the surfaces. Furthermore there are no adjustment marks in the fields or on the devices that can distract the eye, perhaps a hint of a few adjustments on the dentils of the lower right reverse. A simply glorious and choice example of this sought-after type coin. The half eagle denomination was the primary backbone of our circulating coins at the time, along with the half dollar. These are the coins that the most solid banks of the day used as reserves. Hence a few choice mint state examples survived this nice, but precious few from that time period. Only 95,428 struck. Pop 56; 63 finer at NGC. (PCGS # 8116) Value $9,500 - UP

Realized $15,720
