1889. PCGS graded Proof 64 Cameo. A well struck example with a hint of light gold tone. This is the final year of production for the $3 gold coin. The obverse shows James B. Longacre's Indian Princess design, where Liberty wears a feathered headdress which was supposed to emphasize the "national character" of our new blended nation. The reverse has an open wreath with the denomination spelled out 3 / DOLLARS with date 1889 below. Only 129 pieces minted. Pop 9; 9 finer at PCGS for Proof Cameo.
