Lot 1134

1819, 9 over 8. Large 9. PCGS graded MS-65. Here is a condition rarity as well as one of the finest examples of this popular overdate we have handled. The strike is bold and precise, with each of the stars sharp along with the finer details on Liberty's hair curls. The reverse is a perfect match in terms of quality and strike. Toned with deeper lilac and gray around the periphery as well as outlinging the devices as seen on carefully stored coins from old time collections. What is really striking is when the surfaces are examined and their incredible nature is revealed. Usually coins have a peppering of small handling marks, but not so here, this one is simply amazing to behold, with gem level fields and devices apparent. Amazing eye appeal and fantastic quality! Well struck and nicely toned. Pop 5; 4 finer, 1 in 65+, 3 in 66. (PCGS # 6119) Value $19,000 - 20,000
