1796 Draped Bust Dime. JR-6, Rarity 3. NGC graded MS-64. Well struck with lovely light natural toning on both sides, Nice reflective surfaces on both sides. A lovely first year type coin that was only struck in 1796 and 1797. The obverse depicts Liberty facing right with her long flowing curls. The reverse shows a small eagle perched on some clouds, surrounded by a wreath of palm and olive branches. While a number of these were saved as the first of their kind, locating a high end coin like this always requires some patience. Thin die cracks are noted when carefully examined, all as struck. An important offering for the advanced specialist who needs an example of this type. Pop 1; tied for the finest examples graded at both services for the variety. Value $35,000 - UP
