Gemini 7: Phenomenal Archive of Over 250, 70mm Glass Slides from Dick Underwood, NASA's Celebrated Lunar Topographer. From the collection of Richard "Dick" Underwood, the first person to view every photograph from the Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz and the first 23 space shuttle missions. He also provided technical training to every astronaut who went into space in the twentieth century. Even further, Underwood toured the globe giving over 1500 lectures on NASA and the space program, speaking volumes to his passion for space and his charismatic personality.

A remarkable and historic archive here. Over 250, 70mm, color frames identified and serial numbered by hand on every glass slide. Almost all are of the Earth, her land masses, mountains, oceans, cloud formations, storms and the like. However we also note a few of Gemini 6A, which was to rendezvous with Gemini 7 and they are great images! The 70mm frames of film are sandwiched between 3¼ x 4" glass plates with sky blue paper mats and the edges sealed with aluminum tape. Also included is a notebook of serial numbers that correspond not only to these glass sides, but other missions as well.

This is an important archive Goldberg Auctions felt best to keep complete. There are a very small few with a crack in the glass, otherwise given their 55 years in age, this collection was beautifully kept and in excellent condition. Estimated Value $800 - UP
From The Collection of Richard "Dick" Underwood.
