Gemini IV: Scarce Signed Cover of Time Magazine by Ed White and Jim McDivitt. Ed White (1930-1967) and Jim McDivitt (1929, will be 91 in June) flew on Gemini IV (GT-4) on June 7,1965. It was the second manned Gemini flight and lasted four days with 66 orbits. The mission is best known for Ed White being the first American to "spacewalk" with McDivitt shooting for the time, incredible photos. It is also known as the only flight to report a possible UFO encounter but likely floating ice or bolt reflections on the capsule's window. Ed White perished in the tragic fire during pre-launch testing for Apollo 1. Only the cover of the issue of Time June 11, 1965 was retained and signed. It has two clean, horizontal folds that in no way distract from the signatures nor the great illustrated portraits by Robert Vickrey. Also included are two Gemini 1V Nasa lithos, one with excellent photos of Ed White's walk in space. Excellent condition. Estimated Value $500 - UP
From The Celebrated Collection of Alden T. Barnes.
