Russian Lacquer Boxes: Two Spectacular Boxes from Palekh of Russian Folklore with Remarkable Details and Gilt Gold Throughout + 1 More. Russian lacquer boxes from Palekh, the two largest from "The Russian Collection" a cooperative of young artists continuing the traditions of the country's art from all territories that was founded in 1991. 1.) Box with Slavic god has underlay of Russian decoupage and then dramatically enhanced with hand painted detail in colors much of it gold giving the box extraordinary depth and luxury, the art itself having wonderful story vignettes throughout. 1¼ x 4¼ x 6". 2.) Hand painted box again with an underlay of Russian decoupage and then bursting throughout with additional colors and gilt gold. The craftsman ship is equal to the other as they are signed by the same artist. Both boxes have hand painted gilt gold scrollwork surrounding the boxes just below where the lid meets the box. 3.)
