Remington, Frederic (After). "The Bronco Buster" Numbered Edition 50/100. (1861-1909) Bronzes by Frederic Remington are among the most widely reproduced of all metal sculptures. Some unauthorized copies of his work have been traced to at least 1920. But since the copyright protection expired in the 1960s, the number of reproductions in the market has exploded with most being terribly cast and with poor detail. Offered is one of the finest reproductions of Remington's most famous sculptures. From bottom of bronze base to top of hat, sculpture measures just at 22½" tall. Marble base measures 2 x 17 x 9". Sculpture is very heavy (about 90 pounds) and unsafe for glass top table display, but desks, tables or credenzas are fine. The piece is numbered 50/100, has Remington's signature imprint and with a small mounted title plaque attached to side of base.
The quality of this casting cannot be stressed enough. The market is flooded with cheap reproductions in the hundreds of dollars price ranges and in sizes that belie the original 22½" and 32" tall originals with most standing only 11" to 16" mounted on cheap marble. This is a phenomenal gallery quality reproduction. Due to the weight, we recommend outside shipping which we have on call who is reliable and fair. Local pickup is also an option. A phenomenal work. Estimated Value $4,000 - UP
