Andreas Roth. Desert Landscape with Saguaro Cacti. (1871-1949) European born and educated, Roth escaped at age 60 the shattered economy of post WWI Germany, the storm clouds forming pre-WII and came to America under difficult circumstances. He settled in Los Angeles and immediately set about painting the landscapes of his new country, most especially California and Arizona and later the Northwest. He proved prolific and quite successful with many works now on permanent display in museums throughout Europe, the Southwest United States and Canada. This desert landscape, a genre he found compelling late in his life, boasts saturated colors evoking the heat of the day. Signed and dated 1886 and in excellent condition. 24 x 33", handsomely framed to 30 x 40". Estimated Value $500 - UP

Realized $660
